    i going to get a few pound of base rock, alone with a few price of purple rock (coraline). setup the base rock in my main tank turn off the pumps, get a nife and scrape the purple alge off the rock into the water and all over the base rock and let it set for a few hour. it this a good way to seed?

    You don't need to scrape it of onto the base rock, it will make it's way there if the water is up to par.

    I did it that way and yes it works. also what are your water parameters? your Mg good?

    just make sure your Calc is up to par, it'll help the coraline spread like crazy

    but keep in mind, even if it has coraline it's not Live rock, LR has to deal with the bacteria, enzymes and other goodies living in the rock

    remember that only bad things happen fast in this hobby. If you add the live rock with the base rock, it's going to seed

    Good advice. If you can't accomplish it without supllements, in the long run you just can't accomplish it.
