is my tank cycling

    i started my tank on the 5th and added a peice of table shrimp on the 6 or 7th. i just did a test and got this.

    ph is 8.0 salifert
    ammonia 0.25 salifert
    nitrite 4ppm salifert
    nitrates 10ppm api
    temp is 84 im working on a chiller

    Looks like it to me, keep testing for amm, you should see it climb higher, if so your on the right track.

    looks like to me too if the amonia goes down add another . did you use and live rock or is it all base rock

    Typically, you'll see the the ammonia rise, then the nitrite begin to rise as the ammonia tapers off to zero. Next, you'll see the the nitrite spoke and taper off as the nitrate begins to climb. Once the ammonia and nitrite are at zero, the nitrates should have risen and your cycle should be completed. Time for a small water change and slowly introduce critters.

    yeah looks like you are in the later stages of your cycle, that ammonia will drop off to zero shortly, then your nitrite will, then algae will bloom and consume most of the nitrate

    but once you get two days in a row with zero NH4 and zero NO2 (ammo and nitrite) you can start adding buddies. (Slowly!!)
