    Hi everyone,

Just a quick post to see if anyone thinks that this is normal. Just got a new softy but I'm not sure if he is ok! It's a bit more purple than it looks in the picture. I think its a devil finger, but not 100%.

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks.

Looks good to me. I will take some time to get used to your tank. Could be a devil or a thin fingered leather. Hard to tell. Devils hand usually has a bumpy surface and the polyps are white.

    Thanks Jason,

I have attached another picture, sorry about the quality is was taken on my PDA! There are no polyps on it at the moment and the surface is incredibly smooth. It's expanded a bit since it's been in the tank, only a couple of days, and the 'arms' have extended.
I've had a look around and I can't seem to find anything that is the same sort of colour, most of them are tanned.
I suppose that's the reason I'm slightly concerned and hope that it's ok.

    Cheers.

In my experience, leathers take a while to acclimate - mine took several days. Give it some time before you move it.

I have the same type of coral. They go threw so many changes. If it shrinks and looks waxy and then it looks like it's shedding, don't worry. It looks very nice. Mine just went from being bigger then a soft ball yesterday, to the size of a base ball and purple looking and waxy today. This is how they grow.

Cool, I will keep an eye on it and see how it goes.
My toadstalls are doing great so hopefully this one will follow suit.

    Cheers for the advice.
