Is it ok to put active carbon while cycling ?? Also ceramic rings where to put ... ??

    Is it ok to put active carbon while cycling or it doesn't matter ??
    Also ceramic rings where to put ... ?? must be submerged by water or exposed to air ???

    Sure you can,but if all you have is freshmade saltwater with ro/di water,it wouldn't serve much of a purpose yet.

    agreed with Grinder above

    ceramic rings - are these for use in a HOB filter?
    you do not really need them either if your setting up a reef tank with plenty of rockwork
    as the bacteria you need will have enough area to colonise on the rockwork
    but if it is a fish only set up with not much rockwork then the ceramic rings fully submerged would also be a suitable location for bacteria to colonise

    remember to take them out and swish them in a bucket of old tank water at water change time in the future to keep them free of accumulated detritus/ crud etc
