I just got through replacing the RO filters and membrane with spectrapure ones. The system is running 20 minutes and th good water is barely (seriously barely) trickling out.. Lots slower than the old membrane allow the water to come out. I could never imagine this is 90g/d output rate. I am thinking it will take a while for the system to "break-in".. I am correct or do I have a problem that I need to look for?

What kind of rate are we talking here? 90gpd should be around 3.75 gal/hour. I'd measure your capture/rejection ratio as a first step.

Go back and follow the instructions to the letter for starting up. It should run much faster then you are seeing.

Did you replace the DI? or do you have DI. I packed my DI resin too tight one time, and had almost no flow. Also check the backflow valve in the hose. They should be a matched set with the new membrane.

Mine runs at about 2 1/2gs an hour-with all new filter media.

water pressure? mines alittle slow, but not that slow. i know that some of my sinks have low pressure water. try it on a hose see how fast it goes then.

What are your water pressure and water temperature, both have a major effect on GPD.
Di you get the matched flow restrictor amd take the time to trim it according to the included instructions?

A DI cartridge should be packed tightly to work properly and will have no effect on the output. DI actually shrinks with usage so you want it pacjed as tight as possible so you do not get channeling or short circuiting and poor treatment.

Thanks for the help and understanding I am new to all this.. I didnt post this originally so it may have helped.. I purchased a used ro system that has 2 filters and a membrane.. I ordered and replaced both sediment and carbon along with the membrane.. I also ordered a dual DI as an addition..

I did follow the instrustions, at least all the instructions that came with my ordered items which was for the hook up of the DI and the monitor of its TDS system.. I always take time to follow the directions..

My mistake may have been not having the ro's instructions, knowing and looking hard enough to fins them as i felt it had already been being used so I assumed it was setup correctly.. When looking for the instructions the following link is my unit and the only manual I could find are the ver very vague instructions on the page.. I cant even make sure all the lines are connected properly.. (here is the link Product Detail: AquaLife 3-Stage Dolphin R/O System 100gpd) I had no idea it even had a flow restirctor nor tat the water temp had anything to do with the performance as this is my first experience with anything along this line.

    My findings:
    - RAtio - seriously low, I ran 3 gallons of waste before it even began to drip good.. Once it started dripping it was seriously low.. Honestly there It would take forever to measure the ratio but would gues it to be 1 quart to 10 gallons or something stupid like that..

    - Temp: Cold water in 57.6 degrees
Tons of condensation over all the lines especially the orange in line..

I did searched for flow restirctors to see what they looked like and see if I even had one.. Yes it appears I have one inline of the blue line coming out of the end of the membrane that connects to a block where the it passes through from there to the good water out (that same block has the other line from the membrane connected and out to waste )....

PLease forgive my ignorance as I am trying to learn nd tirelessly trying to get this fixed...

Here are a couple pictures.. Does it appear to be connected right? Is that the flow restrictor between the blue hoses? One end of it has white connection piece (on the membrane side) and the other a red connection piece (comming out the other side and going to the block..

Is the block connected right? Y hose connects to the side of the block that says "IN" and the black connects to the "OUT" which goes to waste. The blue side of the block doesnt say anything...

I disconnected each hose and looked inside them to see if I could determine is there was any restrictor and none of the hoses have anything inside them.. Onmly what is visible in the pictures..
