I have no doubts that the skimmer can remove some forms of iodine.
However, you replace/add forms of iodine every time you feed your tank as it is in the foods you feed your fish/corals etc..
Randy Holmes-Farley does not add iodine and does not recommend adding it as there is no documentation proving a need for the addition.
I have never dosed iodine in over 12 years, with 10 tanks totalling 590g and have no indication that there is a need for it, but, many other hobbyists dose for iodine forms with no problems and some say they see an improvement after they dose. If you overdose, you can wipe out some or all of your tank.

yes i have read the iodine complications in the past and have stopped dosing pretty much all together. i was curious though as to how much a skimmer or say activated carbon is at taking down iodine. thaks rayjay
