Yo bro!!! It is sooo good to see you back!!

Ok, Id try to diversify the bacteria ie: small amount of live rock and even live sand. I used this live sand to fight the dino. It worked well for me. It might help with the clarity in a long run. Aaand get a RODI unit ASAP!!

I'm not quite sure what u mean? I have plenty of live rock and about 80lbs of live sand. Are u talking about adding more?

I know you have plenty of live rocks but Im talking about different kind of bacterias. Some folks believe that they need to "add" bacterias into the system by swapping some of the live rocks from time to time because some bacterias die off slowly.. There is no way of proving this theory for me, but diverse in lives in closed system is important..

Ever think about that your DIY rocks could be an issue? I don't know if u used them in other tanks or not but its just a thought.
Btw glad to see your keeping it salt and keeping the light!

I have thought about that dbo, but I had a fair amount of diy rock from the same batch in a 29 gallon that looked amazing. Probably not as much as I've got in the 65, but at least 50%. I never had any issues at all with it in the 29 gallon. Are u thinking phosphates?

Well if the 29 is fine I would say the 65 should be too but ya never know.
Yeah I was thinking maybe something contaminated the material when you were making them and its leaching out now.

I wouldnt do a 100% water change I believe that will spark a cycle. I would go with 25% a week for a little while. Also, tap water is not good, it contains metals, chemicals and all kinds of bad things for your water. If you dont have an RO/DI unit you can normally buy water from a local fish store rather cheap.

a 100% water change will be fine. As long as he has enough water made to take old water out and replace right after with new water.
Water doesnt carry very much bacteria for the nitrogen cycle. almost all of the bacteria is on the rocks and sand, which if you only expose for a few minutes while changing the water shouldnt make any difference at all.
