Patience/time along with what you are already doing. You can seed your aquarium with scrapings if you haven't done that yet. There will be a day that you will curse coralline algae...

Negative – this is such a falsity I could laugh. Albeit true that coralline growth adds to our maintenance requirements the sheer beauty added to our reefs so out weights the extra work it’s a moot point. Personally I find that the filler color is overlooked as our tanks mature and the detriments catches our attention more so than the beauty. The truth is if your coralline ridden tank would be magically stripped of all coralline you would look at your tank with such stark contrast and wish it back in a heart beat.

Those of us with established tanks forget what barren rock really looks like……there is simply no substitute for a colorful reef – even when you can only see a hand full of inches of the reef for the coral. I admire the pursuit of coralline and will be here when you post that your pump broke, and I will post how you can resolve it at that time. Good luck. .. oh wait, I think I just agreed with Missionsix ! LOL

I agree. Wait, does that mean I agreed with Missionsix? hahaha!
I never understand people that complain of any non-bad thing that happens in their reef tanks. I mean, you started a reef tank to see all that life, right? Why "hate" it or want to kill it off?

Here's a reminder of barren rock for everyone...

Nice! I said curse at it, not "magically banish it from your aquarium".

I mean I do have some (maybe 1/3 of my rocks) and I do notice small patches on the glass and my koralia PH. How long do you think it takes to cover all the rocks?

Just like everything else with reef tanks, it takes time. You can't really speed up nature!

When I started my tank, I had coralline growing on my glass and I didn't like it so I took a razor blade and scratched it off. And it kept comming back. It didn't take long for my rocks to be totally covered and it keeps comming. My snails and crabs are purple!!

I didn't know it, but by scraping it off my glass I was seeding it.
