All I can say is - (bowing down to you as I say it)

I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy!

Awesome build job, thought processes for the transfer, etc.

I'm not worthy to even read this!

Keep us posted on updates please.

I could do something similer in my basement, right now my DT is plumbed to a basement sump.

    NICE!

I got a question about the build. Is the glass on the house side, viewing side, the actual tank glass itself? if so, how did you seal the viewing side from the utility room side? I'm only asking because I was thinking about doing this myself in my living room. The neighboring wall is the garage side and it's not very well insulated. It gets hot during the summer and cold in the winter and was wondering how I can make a seal without affecting the temperature of the living space.

I'd be more worried about the temp of the tank! You'd have to build a tank room in your garage so it would stay relatively constant, unlike a garage.

    It looks amazing! Great job!

What type of sand/substrate are you using?

    Hey All,

Thanks for all of the kind words, I am really happy with with tank so far...two weeks in and it is really looking good. I tested my water yesterday and things look good. No real spike in Ammonia, Nitrite or Nitrate. Ca is about 420, Mg is about 1260 and Alk is a bit low at 5.7. I will work on raising that a bit over the next week or two. Here is a decent full tank shot from yesterday. Its hard to tell here, but I have multiple islands in here to keep things isolated...so the green star polyps for example are on islands of thier own....so as to not overtake the rest of the tank (a problem I had in my last set up).

I will try to answer the questions posted as best I can:

    1. I am using Arag-Alive sand - about 140 pounds worth

    2. The tank side of the wall is a storage room in my basement. It is air conditioned and heated at the same temperature as the "display" side of the tank, so I dont really have many issues. I did have an industrial strength "Fart Fan" installed above the tank and vented to the outside to help deal with the humidity...it is working so far....but it is winter :) Suprisingly this fan is really quiet...and well worth the investment.

This should also help keep the air turned over in your basement so you don't get excess carbon dioxide and run into low pH. I'm dealing with that a bit now and have to come up with something like your "Fart Fan". :)

    Very nice tank BTW!
