Hey so I surf CL all the time for fish supplies etc. I stumbled upon someone trying to sell baby sand sharks, the guy selling them found them in a shark recently caught and when they gutted it they were found so they're probably a little premature. He felt bad and has them in a tank and looking for homes for them ASAP. He was looking for someone to take them I recommended contacting an Aquarium or finding someone with a very large tank like atleast 1000+ gallons as they get to be 7' long.....does anyone else have any more suggestions or know anyone nearby that would be able to take these sharks?

I would contact a LFS too. That seems like the only viable option unless you have a huge tank laying around. :-/

its not me, someone i know found them today on a fishing trip when they were gutting the shark they had caught and he has put them in a 30 gallon breeder for the time being for now and we have tried to contact a few people so far and are waiting on some responses...they are new borns so i figure if they are going to make it they will probably be fine in the 30 breeder for now until we find a new homw assuming we can keep the o2 up

trying to find a good home, them being premature would not have given them a very good chance of survival especially not in the cold temperature water near here so his best thought of them surviving was to find them a suitable home

    +1

if they were gutted out, how are they alive? i mean im not a marine biologist but a c section on a dead shark, im assuming it was dead, (i wouldnt gut a live shark, well i wouldnt gut a shark to begin with) I live in FL and they are everywhere. I have caught more sharks fishing than most have seein in their lives. why they took it for game is beyond me, they taste like ****, and you cant use more than 20% of the animal. not to mention hellen keller could catch one theres no game in it. but thats a whole different topic...

just tell em to do em a favor and euthanize em. Sounds terrible but with out their mother and or a large enough tank theyre gonna be miserable. I absolutely hate when people put sharks in tanks. IDC if its at Sea World in their large tanks, these things are large predators that are depleting fast in our oceans. they need to be there not in our living rooms or in our dining rooms.

In certain species of larger sharks, like tiger and bull sharks, the offspring can actually move around inside its mother. Im not totally sure but if it is the same way with sand sharks, but I have heard of bull shark pups eating eachother in the womb. I would not at all be suprised if the pups survived after the mother was gutted.

I would say its best to put them back in the ocean and let nature take its course, it's worked for millions of years so far. If they don't make it, it's for a reason. Gonna be hard to find someone to give them an adequate home, let alone one that they can thrive in.
