not sure how much bogies are where you live but here in NJ they approx and exceed $8/pack!!! Now even if you are only three or so packs/week - that is more than a THOUSAND dollars a year back in your pocket - not to mention many happy years of reefkeeping added to your life!!!

    Best of luck to you!!!!!

I've been there before, its going to be tough but keep your soccer team and tank in mind and you will get through it. Also remember the first day is the worst and if you start back up again you will have to go through that first day again.

Your lungs will recover and once you start supplying your muscles with the oxygen they need you will find you become a better athlete.

Keep at it! Its worth it!

in connecticut ide have my friend buy me a pack of marlboro reds 100's for $7.35 3 times a month i think, i felt like such a piece of $h!t when he bought them for me because i was under age. but i definetly figured that if i stop i could maybe pick up an ati 4x sunpower for my 40b or some used ho t-5 light if a quit. i dont know but reefkeeping and building stuff for the tank if making me want to quit.

good for you Jake, you're def young enough to turn it around very easily. I started smoking at 16 & I'm now 33, I make my own cigs so it's cheap but it's horrible for my health of course.

quitting is all your will to want it, no matter all these patches, meds, etc, you just have to "want" to stop. You have not done much damage to your lungs & all effects from the year & a half will be 100% reversed in no time if you stop now.

Just make sure to not get down on yourself if you slip here and there, it's not easy, but it will only get harder if you keep going. Try to skip cigs every so often until you get down to just one a day or a few a week, go cold turkey if you can, but again it's important that you're taking the steps to quit & "want" it.

Reading your last post, if you can go 1 day without a cig, then you can go your life without one yknow. Many of us nicotine addicts would have quit looong ago if we could go 2-3 days without one, so just do it man!

    best of luck!

yea you can do this bro, i smoked for 10 years and it took me like 4 of those years to quit, do it now and it won't be that bad, chew straws, gums, cinnamon/ginger tooth pics. also the one thing that helped me is the financial part, i was tired of paying to kill myself, so i just bummed smokes here and there till i could go like a week or 2 w/o one and eventually i now just get sick when i smoke like smokin for the first time lol

I used to smoke socially and then one day I saw one of the most beautiful girls ever smoke a cigarette and just look horridly unattractive doing it. I stopped and never looked back. Cigs Suck. Good for you man, there are so many better things to do in life.

thanks a bunch for the advice, it means alot everyone. but ya paying to kill your self probley saved me in a sense. i was very depressed with the stuff i was going through with divoressed parents. they went to court everyother day for a year. it was so stupid because i would have to walk 2 miles down the road from my dad's house when my mom would pick me up so there would be no $h!t between them. so everytime i walked that 2 miles i would smoke 2 cigs because if i didnt i wanted to kill myself. but now that i found the reefkeepiong hobby thats whats keeping me happy.
