so if i kind of undeerstand this and bere with me it is 445 am here you ordered an all in one t-5 light and the bulbs where broke. if i got this right i wouldnt worry about a ballast for it as if it is an all in one unit the ballast should be inside the unit. just go get new bulbs and insert them. also i would be calling the company that sold it to you and have them replace the bulbs so you have spares.

as for the corals going without light remember sometimes the ocean gets overcast and there isnt any direct ssunlight so dont stress over the few additional hours until you get bulbs but i wouldnt go longer than today as it will make more days than i would be comfortable with.

if you dotn mind me asking why did you switch from halides to t-5s?
