I got a PERMA BAN for something that I apparently said on ANOTHER SITE, yet they wouldnt link me to the site I supposdlt said it on nor would they say what is was I aparently said other than calling RC "" even though I know for a fact I never did

When I go to RC it says date ban will be lifted NEVER!! LOL

 

I've been banned. More than once. Actually, one account is infinitely banned.

 

I don't get why anyone even messes with that site. The attitudes are horrible and there's too many threads to sort through. There's nothing on there that cant be found here.

 

That link is funny ...I've never been banned from RC but I think the mods are way too controlling. I got a warning not too long ago because I linked to pics in my photobucket album named "R2RReefSpotLight...See below my comment and the mod's response. I'm not on the forums much but I'm on RC the least and I wouldn't lose any sleep if I never see RC again...let's see if they are here on 3Reef and band me from RC ;D;D

Tried attaching my pics from photobucket like I always do but for some reason RC keep changing the path to the pics resulting in broken links...what's the story RC mods? I'm guessing it's because it has "R2RReefSpotlight" in the photobucket URL ?. This is one of the reasons I don't check in here often, too many unnecessary controls by the site.

Its not about us "thinking we need that much control". Sites that appear on the censor list have gotten there by coming on HERE, and repeatedly violating our User Agreement. When a continued pattern of abuse appears we really only have limited options, censoring is pretty much the last step. Please don't circumvent the censor. Thanks.

 

I read alot there & do occassionaly post, but it seems alot of people are very defensive or quick to get that way there. Yes the mods can be a little quick & rough on people, but I used to help mod a couple different forums for past hobbies (mini-bikes, motorcycles & a ford ranger forum), and being a mod isnt always easy especially on a busy forum. Mods dont get paid but have all the responsibilities of a paid position, keep that in mind. It can be one of those 'walk a mile in thier shoes first' type things.

Probably my most memorable moment was not to long after joining I made a post kinda questioning what was posted. I received a pm telling me 'Get some more posts & come back when your expereinced.' So I guess post count = experience to some people. After that I mostly just read & not post. That kinda left a bad taste in my mouth I guess.

I do have to say I like thier mantis shrimp section. Lots of good information there as well as Dr. Roy himself posts quite a bit. It is kinda nice having one of the worlds leading experts at your question posting finger tips.

I just seem to get along better with people here, different sites have different personalities and here is just where I mesh better.

As far as reefcentralsucks.... I would be suprised to see how long that goes, I am pretty sure RC can pursue legal actions for something or other if they wanted to, since its pretty much a bashing them based ste. I guess we'll see how long it stays up.

 

Pretty cool site. I am a member of RC but am rarely active. They have a thread or two that I have found helpful with the earlier posts. After the mods went Gestapo the quality of the sponsor threads suffered severely to the point of them not being able to help their customers with problems. No ban yet but it would be no loss.

 

I got banned permanently by using an "inappropriate username". It is to be noted that I was also "banned" from 3Reef for the same name, however, Matt is a much more lenient than anyone at RC. My 3Reef ban lasted long enough for us to trade Emails on the issue. My ban at RC lasted forever, with no chance to change my name...I guess I was "abusing the rules".

Just the other night I was talking with some guys on my local club forum about the mrcoral disaster and one mentioned that I should post it on RC. On a whim, this parody of E.A.P.'s The Raven was my reply.

Once upon a midnight dreary, as I pondered horrible advice though weary
Advice given to a newbie and coming from a Mod
I began to type, though should've been sleeping
But I had to prevent a newb from weeping
So I pointed out the errorneus direction given by the one who saw themself as God
An hour passed and I was sleeping,

Exactly what the reply might be, the reply made by the Mod
To my accusastion of knowledge fraud
I typed my password and hit enter, a message told of action taken
Action taken in the form of suspension, apparently it's against the rules to mention
The mistakes made by a Mod

Oh and FWIW. Sending an email asking for an explanation resulted in a lifetime ban ;D
