I have something growing under my rock. It looks like a sponge, but I'm not sure if it is. It is brown with white strings coming out of it. If you grab it it can be pulled off in big hunks. It's starting to take over. It will only grow in a shadey place away from the light. Does anybody know what it is by my description? If so is there anything that will eat it?

    Sounds like a monster! [smiley=party-smiley-004.gif]

    How big is this thing?
Of course I have to ask, can you provide a pic?

It does sound like a sponge. Try to expose a little bit of the light, it should turn black. Sponges are great filters in a good addition to your tank just make sure that they don't come in contact with any corals or such as some of them can be a little nasty. If they are in the way just trim them back a bit.

reefman do a search on marine sponges and see if you can match it with what you have.

No luck on finding any sponge that looks like what I've got. I'm going to try and borrow a camera, but the last time I tryed to post a pic of something no matter what I did to the pic it was always too large.

It resizes them, but they still have to be less than 200k in file size. ;)
