I have a 40 gal breeder reef. Uprgraded from 20 long. I have 2 green chromis, 1sebae clown, 1percula clown. cuc -hermits, snails, brittle star. Star polyps, Yuma and ricordia mushrooms, and long tentacle anenome. Now what would be the next logical step? New fish, coral? I don't want to get something too difficult to keep.

Maybe a trumpet or acan? Acans have great color options

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Do you want stony corals?

If so maybe acans, or duncans or any of the euphyllia like, frogspawn, torch, hammer.

Soft corals, kenya tree, xenia, green star polyps (beware all invasive if given the right tank).

My favorite fish for that size tank are.

    Fire fish.
    Royal Gramma.
Cherub Angel (beware may nip corals and clams).
Love the gobies but it shares the same zone as your anemone.

Maybe think about an easy clam like a Derasa.

Well, that's really a question you have to answer. We can suggest things all day that we think you might want, but when it comes down to it... what do you want? Do you want more coral? A new bright fish to stare at? It just depends on the situation. You are the only one here who can decide what would be the best fit for your tank. :) With that said, If I had to chose a fish or a coral I would pick... Firefish or two or maybe a Flame Hawkfish if you think you can swing the food and if I had to pick a coral I'd get some kind of Zoa that would really pop under your lighting :D

Really overall, the choice is up to you. What to buy next in general is like getting clothes for christmas. Sure you'll get something but is it what you like?

I personally would say maybe some zoa's or paly's just cause the amount of colors they come it.

I know its up to me. Im just looking for some input on what fish are suitable for my size tank, and what corals are low to moderate maintenance but also look cool.

Hawkfish can be aggressive for thier size & can develop anti-invert tendencies. My tank no longer has peppermints & emeralds thanks to mine. I wouldve exiled or relocated it already cept for my son likes it. It also chases my lawnmower blenny several times a day. There is no damage done, but definitely some who's the boss chasing going on.

To do it all again I would probably go with a goby/shrimp combo.

Forgot about my pep shrimp. Would a coral banded get along with him?
