Well, no luck with catching the yellow tang. Guess it's down to the fish hook idea and moving the rocks around.

I was able to catch my puffer tho. Got 2 nets in there. After chasing him around for a while I got him out.

I have had the best luck with cutting the top of a 20oz bottle (or 2ltr if you need bigger) then cut the mouth part off then tape the top back on to the bottle inverted. Put food in the bottle and when the fish goes in the bottle it can't get back out easily and you have time to grab the bottle with fish in it.

This was kind of hard to explain, I believe in my pics on 3reef there's a pic of one I made while I was trying to catch my super fas wrasse.

If you use the fish hook, make you have given the tang time to relax a bit as they are already prone to disease and you don't want it getting really stressed out, then coming down with ich or something.

I would use the bottle method, but the tang is too big.

Ya that's why I'm not pushing it too far with the tang. I don't want it to get too stressed. I have a cleaner shrimp in the new tank so hopefully if it does develop anything, it will be taken care of. Worst case scenario, I just take the rock out and do it the easy way.

YESSSSSSS! Got 'er. Decided to stick with the nori method. Put a piece just under the surface, and held it there with a kabob skewer. First the clowns were all over it, then the tang swam over. As suggested, I kept the net just above the water line. When the tang was in place, with one quick swoop, I plunged in and got her. She was pissed off. Looks good in the new tank tho. Breathing a little heavy as I was expecting. Man I'm glad I was able to get her without too much hassle.

The souloution is not as tough as we may think. Get a red light like the type you can get on a headlamp at the home depot for 10 bucks. at night after the tank has been dark for hrs go to the tank with this red light. The fish will be asleep and will not see the red light. take the net to it and slowelly scoop it up. I have caught all the toughest fish to catch in my tank this way other then my damsel that I wish would commit suicide haha. It really works way better then any fish trap I have ever tried.

I did consider that, however, my tang used to sleep in a cave that was VERY well protected, lol. No net would go near it.

Thanks divott, it does feel good, especially since I didn't stress it out too much. It's swimming all over the new tank this morning, looking for good new hiding places.
