I gotem from my LFS and I was a total noob so obviously I don't think before I act because I'm so impatient and just want rocks to look good and then fish in. I just put rocks in there, then fish, but i never really cared about the scape until later. IMO I have a feeling you're criticizing me; not sure why but it sounds that way to me...

I never really had a plan for mine when I got it. I like it just to look natural, nothing special.

i know what you mean but define natural. I cant really get a good look; all i want is for it to look appealing for me and good for the fish as well

Its easy to do but hard to explain. Its not a fancy formation nor a "work of art" its just put in place.

I suggest you try to identify the type of aquascape that you like. I think over all what a rock has on it can be half the difference. If you have a pile of rocks that is clean with nice coral on them they will look pretty nice even if they are just a pile. I like rocks with lots of holes in them and got some good dry rock here Dry Rock. I am pretty happy with my scape now, but this is the first time I did work on it before I put it in my tank. I used gorilla glue to put mine together, but there are many ways. I know you can use super glue in your tank for smaller applications, but I think there are some other things for bigger in-tank attachments. when I use super glue I clean both spots to be glued, put a small drop on one piece and dip it in the water to create a film on top of the glue. The film lets me put more glue on without it running all over. I repeat until I have a good bit on and then I push the rock onto the other rock with twisting movement so that I brake the film on the top of the glue exposing the wet glue to the other rock. I really suggest working with the rock you have, if you take your time you might find a angle that may let you like your rock, and you can always spend more money and have a chance your not happy with that rock too.

hmm nice idea and good point but i've tried a lot of different cmbinations and I mean A LOT of combinations; I think i've done so many that I just can't find a suitable formation... I really really cant. I have a rock that sort of has a cave and tried to stack it on 2 other rocks to make a bigger cave but it looked ugly, wasnt pleased with it, and it actually fell one time (didnt use glue but still wasnt pleased). I'm gonna try a few scapes tomorrow and if I come up with one then maybe i'll keep it but most of the scapes I've done haven't looked very good IMO. Thinking about getting rock from reefcleaners.
