    Still wondering if its reef safe or not.

    Put it in your sump or fuge to be safe. Some will drill into snail shells and kill them eventually.

    This one was on a snails shell when I found him. Maybe I should just toss it to be safe.

    Yeah, it's not a real limpet, it's a hoof shell or cap shell. They are semi-parasitic, although they usually don't do the host shell much harm. You can throw it in the tank, but it won't survive for very long once it's been detached from the host (it will probably starve within a few months).
