I have these small anemone lookin things on one of my live rock peices. I have counted about 6 or 7 of varying sizes over the rock... The one pictured is the 2nd largest... a bit smaller than a dime.

They seem to each have little specks of white something at the end of each tentacle... and their tentacles extend 1/3rd more at night.

Nothing in the tank seems to care about it or be bothered by it...

And I kinda like how they look... and make the tank more 'live'...

But is this a nuisance that could become a problem down the road?

Also, yesterday I placed a piece of finger leather coral on top of the rock... should I move it to a different spot because of these little things?

They look like a rock anemone to me which tend not to be too much of a problem. Many people just leave them be.

I let them be in my tank for a little while. But they started to spread pretty slowly and now they are irrating some corals..

I would get rid of them, but they dont get much bigger then that IME..But im not sure how to kill them, unless its the same as aiptaisa..

    Ball anemone

Pseudocorynactis spp pseudocorynactis - Google Search

If they get too large, they can be risky for small fish. I just leave the small ones be.

The smallest fish I have are a pair of ocellaris clowns...

I do have a starry blenny full grown (5" or so) that likes to lay all over the live rock, would these things eventually pose a substantial 'threat' to him?

And should I keep that coral there or move it... sounds like I should move it if those are anemone infact...

    thanks for the help guys!

These don't spread with abandon like aiptasia or majano's. It's small and if it stung one of your fish, it is small enough that your fish would just avoid it in the future.

I have those things all over, some are the size of a quarter. They don't seem to be a problem, and actually trap some free floating garbage from time to time. I keep small fish in this tank.
