Those are types of clams and should not cause any problems. They prefer to be in low light to shaded areas.

It's a bi-valve, which kind I will have to look up.

They are filter feeders and need a good deal of suspended particles to survive.

Manual removal or letting die off naturally. They will close so tightly during a dip I have doubts how effective that would be.

I do not see them spreading much or causing long term issues.

Personally I think they are cool.

Thanks guys for respond. So this clams are not dangerous:cheesy:But the white sponge like thing was all around the polyps and like choke the polyps preventing them to open up fully. Here is pictures of the colony itself. Its still stressed from yesterday.Sorry for bud pictures.its point and shoot camera. And how long its going to take them to dye off naturally.

    Very cool piece!

Die off is variable, any where from days to weeks, depends on available food, water chemistry.......

Getting the sponge removed was the most important thing.

    Oh you're welcome. :)

It's much easier for the person with the invert to make the ID, since you know exactly what you're looking at.

Great looking zoa colony. :) Are those eagle eyes? or LA Lakers?

I've had the sponge problem myself. I had a family member take care of the tank while I was away for a month. I came back last week and a sponge had smothered one of my gsp rocks. It sucks, but fortunately it's a cheap, fast growing coral, so I can just get a new one.

Congrats on the clams. They look pretty cool.
