    Hi all
Can any one tell me what the quarentine time is on a tank that has had ICH, this horrible desease took out two new fish in a newly set up tank,
Tank was a Jewel Lido 120 marine all peremeters were good and it had been running for 1 mth after maturation, it had 1 black and white pecular in for 1 week with no probs and this came from my other tank which is in good condition. problems started when i added a small regal Tang, it then develloped small white spots on its head and sides and then within two weeks they were both dead, i tried some medication which turned the water green but this didnt do the bizz!!
It has now been six weeeks since the outbreak, can i now re stock the tank?

    cheers
    tommo

I never medicated my fish. I just gave them selcon soaked food and garlic soaked food and the Ich went away everytime. But that all i ever feed my fish. I never feed them regular food.

The tank without fish? It wont really matter. Ich is present in all systems, at all times. It will lay completely dormant until it finds a weakend host to attach itself to. Think of ich as a common cold or the flu to us. Everyone may catch it at some time, but only the weak or distressed will succumb to it.
Not saying its your fault, as the fish may have been doomed before you even bought them. But the best gaurds against ich are good water and a nutritous diet.

Get a uv steralizer for good measure, let it run for 2 weeks and slowly, add new fish, just be sure to qt them first.

How small where the specks ? like maybe a grain of salt or sugar or a really little speck like grain of ground pepper size ? or a white looking dusting around the head and gill plates to give the look of a speck ?
