No. The spectrum of black lights will do nothing for corals, and causes blindness in fish/inverts.

I thought so. One of the guys at the hardware was suggesting that I use black light instead.

Ok well I think it's the wrong bulb. I researched it, It has Color Temp: 3600K. Is this terribly bad? Should I just change it and the correct bulb? If I do use it. What's the worst that can happen?

That bulb will offer almost nothing to your corals and will cause massive algae blooms.

Definitely know what bulb it is and what Kelvin it is before putting it on your tank. And no, black lights are not a good idea over a reef tank, I think they look cool and will make the greens stand out like crazy, but it can be harmful if exposed long enough. I knew a guy, not calling him a friend cause he wasn't really all that nice, but he used one of those neon black lights as a moon light for a while and his nems died pretty much wiping his tank out. Not saying the light did them in but it was pretty suspicious.

That's the thing, I just assumed that the bulb was the correct thing because there was nothing on the bulb that stated the Kelvin rating.

Nope. If I do find one, the shipping cost would be absolutely be ridiculous. But I do have lots of family in the states. I usually ship stuff to my cousin and he sends my order down with his goods every month.
