A little ray of hope here.....it is unlikely that your clam fully put down its foot after only 15 minutes of acclimation. Usually it takes a few days. Although you have ripped off a portion of its foot, it may not necessarily be a death sentence (although it is certainly not great).

Put it on a rock, high in your tank, with high lighting (the more the better) and dose phyto. It may surprise you and be ok.

Just from my personal experience with a crocea clam, when I first got mine I noticed it had a long piece of tissue hanging from its base as part of its foot. After a few days of moving itself around on the rocks trying to find a sweet spot, it ripped off its own threads. I was devastated, and thought that for sure it would die. I did as I told you above, and it is now 3 months later, the clam seems to be doing great, the foot has regrown, and it has attached itself firmly to the rocks.

You may well lose yours, but maybe not. Don't give up yet.

i ripped mine... as well but it wasnt a large part of its foot. a month later and its still alive, although, my understanding is they take along time to die.

its laying on its side, not looking too hot.. My lights have not come on yet.. should I try to turn them on and see if it retracts its mantle or just leave it alone..

If it is getting good light where it is right now, leave it alone. If it is not getting intense light where it is, then move it higher. The more you move it, the more stressed it will be. The best thing to do is take a flat piece of rock, or even an old clamshell, and place the crocea on that. That way, every time you want to move the clam all you need to do is move the rock/shell without lifting the clam.
