I picked up 3 new corals yesterday. A frogspawn, GSPs, and Duncans. I adjusted my power heads to get more flow to the GSPs and the pipe organ coral, that I have a had for a few months and didn't seem to be doing too well. But I think in adjusting the flow it aggravated the RBTA and tonight when I cam home from work I had to RBTAs. The original was about the size of a baseball and now I have to golf ball sized nems. I am going to leave everything alone, and give it time to see what happens. I figured if it bothered the nem he move move a bit not split. Parameters are good, and I have had the nem for about 2 months now. Any advise?

Happened to me too once, change of flow caused them to split, now I get an RBTA once every month or two depending on feeding. I would wait to feed the anems until both have a fully developed mouth and foot.

Gratz on the new anemone, I usually trade my in for LFS credit.

I don't normally feed them anything. They get some mysis when I normally feed the fish, but I don't spot feed them.

i wasn't aware flow was a "splitting" factor. i thought if the flow wasn't right they would simply move.

regardless, how long have you had the "momma" RBTA? my orange one split after roughly two years of having it (i upgraded in the meantime). are your other corals aside the pipe organ doing good?

I'm thinking if the other corals are showing signs of stress then the bubble tip may have split to insure its survival due to poor water, but i really don't mean to alarm you what so ever. from what i know bta splitting remains somewhat shrouded in mystery, as is with their tentacle bubbling or not.

I have 6 total corals, 4 are doing great 2 are not. The Acan has never looked good since I put it in the tank. I have moved it several times trying to find a spot it likes. The pipe organ coral was good, but I moved it awhile back and since then it hasn't been coming out. I just moved it to a new location last week, so I am hoping it comes back. The GSPs, Frogspawn and Duncans seems to be doing fine. The RBTA has been doing great since it has been in the tank, it moved a bit at first to find a place it likes, but has been there for a few weeks now. I checked both of them this morning and they were inflated and looked to be doing good. They both had a strong hold and their mouths were closed. The blues from my LEDs were only at 3% and the rest of the lights were off. I will check them again when I get home.

I wouldn't worry about it if they both look good. I would just keep an eye on things. As swiss said, some things are not always understood in this hobby.
