    +1 on the "dont give up" philosophy being given by all the people on this thread

    if you choose to leave the hobby it needs to be for positive reasons
    such as family commitment, economy drive, moving home etc
    if you get out of the hobby with a focus on a different goal - you should be spared regret

    if on the other hand you leave the hobby or anything else in life, for negative reasons
    then regret will be your long term companion

    corals look great a tank without fish can look great
    corals do produce some waste, you will have biological activity, your tanks bacteria will reduce in accordance with a reduced bioload

    and as mentioned, in a few weeks, months (you decide when) - provided you re-introduce fish slowly leaving a period of time between each addition, then your bacteria will multiply and process the additional wastes
