Friday i bought a coral beauty angelfish and a sailfin tang. This morning my angelfish has a dot on him and it could be ich or not. But he is scraching the live rock and seems to have symptions. The angelfish is eating a lot of stuff off the live rock but still no prapared food. The sailfin is eating like a pig and shows no symptoms of ich. I fear that the ich with the angelfish could spread to the sailfin. I heard of a product called no ich marine it is like kick ich and its reef safe does it really help or is it a waste of money. I have no duarentine tank so please help. I have started useing garlick.

I have used the no ick marine stuff, and did nothing. If you can catch'm, would try a FW dip. I have lost two angel's to ick, but couldn't catch'm to do it. Maybe someone on here has a better idea though.. Good luck!

    UV Light or cleaner shrimp...

If the fish is healthy feed garlic soaked food and may entice him to eat it, will also help bolster his system. Cleaner shrimp are great additions and will help with all sorts of things, UV lights can also be very effective, but they will also kill beneficial bacteria and such as well as the bad stuff..

Hope it gives you a few ideas....

I just recently bought a CB and it took him a week before he started eating flake foods.

if your really worried about it you could throw together a cheap QT but whether your doing a FW dip or QT you are still going to have to catch it and ive also heard of people running copper through the QT from my LFS because it is a problem that is also common to most tangs as well.

as far as getting it to eat is concerned have you tried live food like brine shrimp normally sold at the LFS or even prepared food from your local grocery store like chopped clam, shrimp, or oyster because these have the freshest taste but food dipped in garlic should work too and even Seachem makes a product called Entice for finicky fish but i think it is a garlic based item

personally I would not do a FW dip nor would I try to catch him at this point. If he is picking stuff off your rocks then I would not worry too much. Might want to add a cleaner shrimp as I think all reef tanks should have them...plus they are awesome to watch.

Catching the fish is very stressful to them. How big is your tank and how long has it been up. You still have nitrates so I am thinking maybe it is still newer setup?

However, saltwater ick is not as bad as many of us think IF the water quality is good and the fish are being fed a quality food. Adding garlic is perfect thing to do...will stimulate the fishs appetite and it will help their immune system.

Both angels and tangs are constant grazers. They will continually feed off rocks and eat algea. You need to get some nori or other seaweed sheets and place it on a clip for them and place it in the tank. You can also rubberband it to a rock. It can take a couple days for the fish to start to peck at it, but once they do they will love it. I had to add 2 pieces a day to my tank and it would disappear in a couple hours.

What type of food are you using?

I agree, don't do anything drastic just yet. Just the garlic and the nori sheets.
Give him a few days to settle in.

I would soak the nori in selcon. That will help the CB kick the ich.
