    So apparently I have a broken toe and what's the first thing the doctor does when I tell them, oh, let's see how much we can squeeze it. I mean seriously, is it really necessary to squeeze a broken bone that much? Then if that wasn't bad enough, the doctor says she wants the other doctor in the office to confirm what she's thinking, guess what that means, another doctor gets to see how many times they can squeeze a broken bone. I left the office with my toe swollen twice as much as when I went in there.

    Reminds me of a joke;
    "I told the doctor I broke my leg in two places. He told me to quit going to those places."

    Sorry to hear that, but diagnosis cant be made on assumption. Treatment varies depending on the problem and several other criteria and sometimes, unfortunately, further stress is caused to the patient to reach diagnosis like stress tests, making people with congestive heart failure run on a treadmill. Yours is a simple toe issue, I delivered a baby today to a patient who could not get anything for pain as much as she wanted it due to certain reasons. I'm sorry about your toe and I hope you feel better soon, but I do agree some doctors can be pretty heartless sometimes. They often forget they are treating a human being and not an object.

    Coming from a family with a doctor, it's pretty much true. It's because the emotional detachment helps them deal with the most serious cases, and see the most messed up stuff, without going as nuts as some of the guys who fought in Vitenam. The level of detachment kinda depends on their prior experience too; an internist or dermatologist isn't as likely to be as detached emotionally as a army surgeon or ER surgeon.

    Ha, nice. I seperated my shoulder once and the doctor kept messing with it, I asked him to stop and he didn't, so I passed out on him. I was also a foot taller than my doctor.

    I know your pain:

    I had a dental assistant cleaning my teeth one time and said she found a cavity., SO what does she do...hooks it and pulls. Just for kicks she did it a second time....

    I have no problems with dentist by the way. Had to get a root canal w/ no novocaine or gas. I just blasted my music and closed my eyes.
