    I would agree with the power leak, a good ground probe that is set up right meaning to a good ground will never add electricity to your tank, also check your heater for leakage I went 3 days tiring to find one and well you guessed it was the heater. A word of caution if your tank is set on a GFI it may pop when you put the probe in if you have a leak.

    Yea, with what I know now I wouldn't submerge any heater beyond the cord's connection - even if the manufacturer say's it's ok to do so. The best possible aquarium setup is one without any electrical device contact direct with water.
