Powerhead placement...I know its old news but I am asking anyway. I got 2 new powerheads today each at 1000gph. I currently run 2X1100gph powerheads. Where do I place these new powerheads to create the best flow without the laminar flow and dead spots? Attached is a rough picture of the DT. At each end the small box you see are the overflow chambers. These chambers run from the bottom to the top of the aquarium. I was thinking I would place the two new powerheads in the center down low (behind rocks near sand bed) and point them up towards the surface and out towards each end of the tank. Thoughts? Looking for some great flow. I figured out real quick pointing them at eachother will get you less than desirable results. The yellow boxes at each end represent the 1100gph powerheads I have now.

I like the idea, definitely give it a shot. I would re-aim the 1100 pumps so they are parallel to each other instead of pointing at each other. You should get a more random flow with the change.

So one would be flowing along the sand bed and the other would be directly above it. Right?

If I place both of the new 1000GPH pumps in the center back of the tank behind rocks near the sand bed and point them towards opposing ends will I get a circular waterflow in my tank? I do already have one powerhead at each end of the tank. I thought this was bad?
