    Thats an asterina,most are reef safe,some are not and it's difficult for even experts to tell the difference.They multiply by dividing and can have any number of legs as thats how they divide(by dropping a leg to turn into another starfish.Thier numbers go up and down per available food,but very common.:)

    I thought so! I'm way excited!! Since I told one of my good friends about him/it yesterday as a blob (didn't get a good look at him) his name is The Blob :)

    I remember that from one of my intense bio classes but still cool to read of it again. This starfish has totally made my day.;D Sad but true LOL

    I was not expecting to find him at all! SO how big will be get? Dumb question but my curiousity has the best of me now.

    If he's got 5 or 6 limbs,thats about it,but the fun part is you'll see more soon!I love em myself and have had them in all 3 reef tanks that i've owned.

    I have not seen them get much larger than a penny - but like Corailline said - you will likely start to see more and more of them.

    They usually do not become invasive tho - which makes them great additions to the biodiversity of your tank!!!
