    I have a quarantine question.

I have a fish in quarantine on day 9. Looks good. Eating well. Haven't added any meds because doing well. Overall no signs of ich or anything. Plan to keep around 3 weeks in QT. But if I add new fish in QT do I have to start his quarantine time over? Guess I'm wondering if I introduce a new fish in QT that has ich then the one in there could get it. But I wouldn't know that unless a period of time passes. Or best to wait till he is done before adding?

    Thanks!

I would think you want to extend the QT time. I would only add multiple fish into a QT tank at the same time. But I would suggest doing only one fish at a time, unless you are worried about aggressiveness after the fish get established in the DT.

+1. If you are 9 days, finish the qt off without adding any other fish to qt. I would also suggest longer period. trust me, I was one who wanted to rush it. I added a fish to a qt tank with a fish that was 2 weeks into it and lost both fish because the second one infected the first. Like you, the first was looking fantastic. Also there are other reasons why we qt. The fish is getting stronger and stabilizing. I know you are probably anxious but trust what you read don't rush. I learned the hard way

Ok thanks. I thought id wait but was curious if it wouldn't matter.

How did your fish die after QT? What was the reason?

The second one added had marine velvet and infected a a firefish I already had in qt Nevermind, that I even felt guilty that the CB angel I put in with him bullied the firefish in the small qt (second mistake) before the velvet showed several days later. I felt so guilty and my fault that I infected and killed a perfect firefish. At least the velvet never got into my display tank I have learned. My last new fish stayed in a qt for almost seven weeks, I just was in no rush.

I generally use Prazi-Pro regardless of how the fish looks. I want the flukes and espeically worms out. Rarely do I use anything else. Prazi-Pro is pretty harmless as well.

On day 10. Fish doing good. Looks good. Eating. Swimming. Was thinking 3-4 weeks. But might just make it 3 weeks. If had an issue with ich would already show it.
Haven't treated at all. Will see how the next 7 days go

Quick update. Just put my clowns in DT. Doing great.
Added a Flame Hawkfish (love these!!) and a Yellow Watchmen Goby in QT. They are so small and hard to tell if have anything. No white dots so am that's good. I usually don't add meds to QT if seem healthy.
But how do you know fish are good when this small? Also 3-4 weeks in QT

I think you would know and probably more so from behaviour (twitching, rubbing). I will also throw this thought in the thinking on your 2 QT fish. I have read and personnally experienced that hawkfish are generally resistent to ich and the likes. Many times (I would never say always) you will here that hawkfish do not come in with parasites or many times the ones that do not get it. They will with a heavier infestation as any fish would so when we got a longnose hawkfish we did not premedicate in QT and all was fine. Unfortunetely, it carpet surfed several weeks later through the smallest opening in his tank. I would aIso think since the yellow watchman is a sand/bottom type dweller that may have some resistence. As others have said you can consider prazi pro or Seachem Paraguard as preventative but I wouldnt worry two much. On the flip side I do not like to QT more than 1 fish anymore because I experienced more stress on fish when of they start bullying each other in the small tank. Just make sure you have plenty of small PVC tubes for them to get way from each other.
