As the title says, I took the plunge and got some Chemiclean and after just 2 rounds (4days)the cyano is all gone and my tank is once again pretty and the corals are looking better as are my fishy friends.
Really the fish were fine before but the cardinal was acting a bit off and the poor mandarins couldn't hunt the rocks when they (the rocks) were covered with the red slime.

My skimmer is now going crazy though but I'll take that over the fred menace any day.

So anyone wondering if it's a good way to go to get rid of it when you've tried other routes and failed it does work and works well.
I feel that my tank has a new lease on life and am loving it once again.

chemi- cleans works I've used it. But unless this is just "new tank" cyano, it will either comeback or be replaced with other algae unless you fix the excess nutrient issues.

It did have some before a 4 day power outage but then grew really bad after that and the K. Evo had reverse flow (aka nearly no real flow) plus found my daughter overfeeding the tank.
The tank is also just shy of 6 months old so I think it was a new tank thing before but the other stuff added to it and made it much worse.

So things should be better now, plus I will finally be hooking up the fuge this month.

congrats, I battled cyano naturally over a 2-month period and beat it, hasn't been back & I don't think it ever will. I did buy chemi-clean but hesitated to dose as I've heard it does work, but may also be a "band-aid" that won't last. Hopefully it doesn't come back for you, I know it's very frustrating.

FYI steps I took to rid myself of the cyano naturally:

    - use RO/DI water only, that tests at 0 TDS
    - cut back on feeding, I went from once a day to every three days
    - rinse any cubed frozen foods prior to feeding (in RO water if you can)
    - ramp up circulation in any dead areas of the tank
    - pick out any clumps of red slime you can, using baster/siphon/tongs
    - double your water changes to keep Nitrates down
    - clean out all powerheads/skimmer/filters etc.
    - make sure your bulbs are still good
    - make sure your tank isn't overstocked
    - run a phosphate remover (I use a reactor with Chemi Pure Elite)

Congrats, hopefully you can get the feeding situation under control.

I beat cyano by letting cyano grow in my fuge, and cleaning out the cyano in my DT.

I should, id did show her how much to feed so hopefully that does the trick. Had showed her before but with the little piggies in my tank she felt bad for them I guess.

Cool, I won't be doing that though since my fuge is on display.
