Have you double/triple check your test kit or pH probe? Recalibrate, try another calibration solution, try another test kit.

Try the aeration test, take a cup of water outside with an air stone for a while and test the water out there to see if maybe even opening the windows isn't getting rid of the excess CO2.

mine does the same darn thing.. Sometimes it goes up to 8.04 but usually hovers around 7.90. Its a pita, especially since my alk is at 13. I dont want to push it up higher..

My surface takes a beating and still nothing. It only raises a little if I open my windows, open my hood and sump doors and blast a window fan at the sump. Only then will it go up to 8.10 but then again I live in the south and leaving the door open is just unheard of during these months. I need to try something else.. I even have an airstone and air pump for a 40 gallon sitting in my overflow to get even more oxygen. I wish there were a way to run an airstone from a pump outside my place to bring in fresh air.

I know its extreme and I wouldn't do this for financial reasons, but what about running a pure oxygen line from a pressurized tank? I bet that would kick butt!!

Don't stress too much about this. 7.94 during the day is still in the "o.k." range. Try using Sea-Lab No14Ph. It will balance the tank to 8.3. It is made to be used in conjuction with Sea-Lab Formula 28, but can be used alone. I use them in tandem and my Calcium stays at 480-500 ppm and PH at 8.2-8.3.
