    Have you ever ran around the house trying to get so many things done at once because you are so excited about them? thats where I am at right now! In mail today i received;

Vertex skimmer (bought used from a member here(upgrading from my coralife))

    Hanna po4 checker

    Reef chili

Dual GFO/Carbon reactor (never run either before)

    More silicon

    A wireless router (dual band)

I am running around hooking everything up and looking very masculine =-)

So far, I am in absolute love with my Vertex skimmer! It is huge and full of awesomeness compared to my corallife I hated! Also, it beats my eshoppes which I am happy with. It is just an all around awesome skimmer and I know this after 5 minutes of use!

One question, should I rinse GFO? I know to Rinse carbon....

I am going to run this tank with GFO/Carbon and the other with bio pellets and see which I like more. I will keep reporting back. I am so so happy right now!

Oh yea I know that feling to well ;D

Congrats on the upgrade I just got a SRO 2000 as a upgrade and love it

As for the GFO you want to rinse in ro/di till no more rust color comes off
For me that about 3-4 times

    Good luck with everything

Yep,thats me on a delivery day,I usually save up and wait to order from (wherever) till i have enough to make free shipping or to justify the order, lol,so when the big brown truck shows up,i'm usually pretty busy for the day playing with all the newbies.

And yes,i always rinse my gfo well in ro/di.I run mine passively, but i'm sure the same applies for using in a reactor too.

Sweet!! Sounds like good times :)!

What model of vertex did you get and what's the eshopps you mention that it outperforms?

Hanna PO4 checker is on my list too.

I usually mix up 5 gallons of RODI just for rinsing media. I have a separate small pump and hose set-up I use just for this task. I use this water and small pump to rinse the media until the outlet is crystal clear. The amount of water needed will vary with particulate size,as finer media types usually have more dust. Hth

Vertex in-100 and Eshopps PSK- 150. The Eshoppes is good but the Vertex is stellar

I ran 4-5 gallons of RO through the reactor to rinse per instructions. I am about to go use the Hannah checker for the first time! Giddy Giddy Giddy!
