You would have to replace the water lost through evaporation with RO/DI water and then replace the amount of water lost due to wet skimming with pre-made salt water.

    False Bottom

This may seem simple to you but being new to this I wanted to ask before I jumnped in and started breaking things. Is there a good way to remove the false bottom from the first chamber in a 29 gallon BioCube tank that is up and running?

Try using the handle of a screwdriver to press down each of the corners. If I'm not mistaken its "glued" down by some rubber sealant. I don't think it will fit in the first chamber anyway, I have mine in chamber two. It was very hard to get consistent good skimmate back there due to daily evaporation. Once I added a DIY overflow the skimmer started working much better. Review my biocube build on my signature. You might get some good ideas for mods since I've gutted and upgraded nearly everything for my 29g Biocube
