Just set up a 46gallon bowfront. I have approx 40-48lbs of porous rock in a very open layout and have 2 Koralia Nano 425s (one in each corner). This is going to eventually be a softie and LPS tank no SPS or anything, and with the open layout I am afraid of havign too much flow. Everything seems to be moving just fine but I think I need a little more flow and was tempted to upgrade at least one of the powerheads. Would I be better off just addign a third Nano 425 or should I switch one out for a larger model like a 750, 1050, or 1400?

too much flow is impossible to have, and its always better to have a few small powerheads than just having one big one. id get the third 425

if that is the case is it best to add a 750 to my 2 425s? or should 3 425s be perfect

...and if you got TWO more..you set up a wave maker and the world is perfect..when the wave maker is running very seldom are all 4 power heads running....but then thats a money thing...so I will defer to the previous postings..MO'FLOW !! : ) lol

    I would recommend something larger than the 425s. I have 2 x 425s and 1 x 250 in my 26 bow and it's not too chaotic.

I would add one 750 and see how you like it and how it works with how your scape. Then go from there.

I wouldn't go with they 1400, you will just be blowing everything everywhere with that. I would go with the third 425 myself. I put the 750 in my 40 breeder and had to take it out. I just have softies though. My fish were to stressed out with the 750 though as well. I don't agree with there is no such thing as to much flow. Some corals thrive in low flow areas, so I would keep that in mind. You already mentioned that you don't want SPS, so a lot flow shouldn't be required for your tank. Go with what your tank is happy with.

With this alone, you are at roughly 35x your water volume in flow rate. That doesn't include your skimmer or return pump either if you have those. In my opinion, you have plenty of flow even for SPS honestly from what I have read. ;D
