Looks to be a silver arrowana which would reach around 4 foot in captivity but can live for 20+ years I believe. Australian and Asian arrowana have slightly different fin patterns and usually max out at 3 foot. If you think thats crazy you should see their cousin the arapaima which get to be around 10 foot!!

Awesome fish, basically a living fossil. Very sad how they are collected though. The babies swim and hide in the parents mouth with danger around so usually the adult is killed to collect the offspring. Maybe of which are so young they still have the eggsac and a very poor chance of survival; those that do make it end up in someones 20gal tank.

That's a nice size fish. Thanks for posting. Arowanas are cool.
When I first started keeping fish I bought a baby silver arowana that was about 5" long and kept it until it was 2'-10" long. It was a bummer to get rid of but it out grew the tank. I traded it in to a local fish store and when I went back a few days later they said it had died. It was absolutely healthy when I traded it in, I was real bummed then, should have just bought a bigger tank.

pretty inhumane though, that sucker should have at least a 500gallon tank
