Thinking about trying out one of these permeate pumps:

Anyone ever try one of these?
Also could I route my waste water from a holding tank back through the RO/DI unit?

Yeah, It sounds like a good way to save water.

    Good. I love it.
Problem is things keep popping up financially and timewise that is putting my aquarium further and further behind. I sold my old setup and going to buy a rimless when I can. Right now I just have some corals I brought with me in a 20 gallon.

Permeate pumps will only work on systems with a pressure or bladder tank like drinking water systems. They use the pressure stored in the tank to drive the pump. They are a good water saving device though for systems such as that but will not work without the tank.

To recirculate the waste back to the RO you would need a booster pump capable of overcoming your normal water pressure. Another option is a dual membrane system which routes the waste from the first into the second membrane but its not really a water saving device since you still have to flush the membranes at 4:1.
