i have a strong grasp on everything up to the point that it turns into a flexible snake looking thing, loc line, or something like that.

will the marineland 90 i have ordered come with everything i need??

will a 1 inch rather then 3/4 return hurt anything as far as pressure goes at 650gph.

would a "dual" return be kinda pointless at 650 gph??

The larger return will help take back pressure off of the pump.
Not sure what a reef ready tank has with it.
Dual return is good because it gives you more options to take care of dead spots in the tank.

i see were it would help the pump life, i just worry about flow in the tank. kinda like putting your tumb over the end of a garden hose.

yeah, thats why i was thinking about that. i just worry about ending up with a "weak" return

I like having the strong return pressure of 1 hose but I need to use a few internal tunze's to make up for the lake of flow in some areas.

That return won't be as "weak" as you think.

My 525 gph pump moves far more volume when using 1" return piping, and i'd say volume is more important that pressure. You also have to remember that unless your using a pressure rated pump, you will only be able to produce a small amount of pressure in the first place, so you need to balance that out with volume.

that makes sense. i want to move more water not create some sort of "jet-stream" wouldnt be that efficient.

    thanks

Don't confuse flow (GPH) with velocity (feet per second) they are two different things but somewhat related.
With a larger diameter or two returns you reduce the backpressure so ebd up with greater flow but at a reduced velocity. Flow is more important than velocity so this is good.
If velocity is what you want then reduce the diameter at the last possible moment, such as 3/4" or 1/2" Loc Line nozzles on the ends of the 1" pipe or tube. This keeps the restriction to a minumum until the nozzles so does not add significantly to the backpressure giving you greater flow and velocity.
If given a choice always take flow over velocity on a return pump, you can make up velocity or movement with small energy efficient powerheads in the tank.

Something else to consider with returns is whether you really want a solid stream of water coming into the tank. I've found it is easy to mess up sandbeds or blast a specific area of rock/coral which isn't really desireable, sometimes only when the powerheads in the tank are off but nonetheless it happens occasionally and is a real pain.
I like keeping my return to the bare minimum, just enough flow to feed the filtration system, I think 5-10x the display tank volume is generally good). This also saves you on electricity.
