i have a vortech mp20 that i run at reef crest mode. And i am getting growing cyano problem, i know there are other things that causes this algae but first i want to rule out not enough flow. I also keep some SPS and plan to get more. I will be picking up a K3 tomorrow at the lfs so i have even more flow.

And when reading through the instructions i couldnt find out how to make sure it runs at maximum speed. So anybody know how

there's a little nob on the side where the mode an reset buttons are. Turn it all the way towards the "+"

I'd try running it at max in constant speed mode and see if that helps

alright its adjusted and sand is starting to fly everywhere fish cant seem to keep up with the increased flow, lol they better get used to it. I think i still need to pick up another powerhead tomorrow, but i think ill have to place it as far up as possible to try to minimize sand getting thrown everywhere

LOL, they really throw their weight around! My mp40 is in the middle of my 24" tall 80g and it still makes a vortex from the surface of the water

Strong flow can help prevent cyno, but if you have excess nutrients, then it will grow anyways. I've had it grow right in front of a power head and even on the power head. The sand should be stirring up with that strong of flow, you may want to turn it down.

all paramater have been reading 0 so im hoping the increased flow will at least help a ltttle, mine hasnt been on the powerhead yet but its been growing on a rock right in front of it and on other rocks and sandbed. I just ordered a hydro evolution 1050 so i will have a crazy amount of flow in my tank now :D and the sand was also being thrown around on the lowr speed as well, just not this bad, and ive got it placed as high up as i can
