i've looked into this for a long time. what i've learned is ICH is like a cold that humans get...all fish will have ich, but when they get stressed out or something changes they break out and the cycle begins. ICH won't kill your fish, just make sure they continue to eat tho. Like a cold that humans get, it's often easier for a more serious infection or illness to come on while they are affected with ich. This secondary infection is what will more often than not kill. The only way i have learned to rid my tank of ICH is to move all fish into a quarentine tank and leave my DT empty (fallow) for a month. Without more fish to become a host and continue their life cycle they die off. i've been recommended marine max to treat ich but cannot find it readily in canada. that would be my recommendation. i've been told its reef safe but i've never used and can't say forsure so do you own research first. I am going through exactly what you are. But my infection has changed from ich to ich with velvet, so at that point i removed all fish and put into hospital. with velvet you must act quick cause it kills. I would observe your fish make sure they continue to eat. Check you water params....my hydrometer was innaccurate and my salt mix was at 1.031, while the hydrometer read 1.024. this was my cause of ICH outbreak. Make sure everything is ideal temp, salinity, ammonia, nitrate, phosphate ..ect. Good luck, hope they get better but prepare i definitly recommend setting up a small hospital tank incase the situation changes. You don't want to be caught flat footed when an outbreak happends. its better to be prepared for the worse. my fish are in day 3 of hospital tank with copper treatment.

I spent yesterday afternoon attending the winter meeting of the local area reef club WAMAS (Washington Area Marine Aquarium Society) and listened to the guest speaker Paul Baldassano tell some great stories about his 40+ years in the hobby and the history of many of the products we take for granted in todays setup.
One of the things he told us about was his theory about ICK. His experiance was if you keep your fish fed in "breeding" condition they would essentially never be affected by ICK because their own immune system would prevent them from getting infected even if you add a fish with a full blown outbreak, which he has done.

Well I had a big problem with ICH when i started my saltwater tank, but i asked some people in the lfs and they gave me some liquid to add to the tank called Garlic Guard, this was made to encourage fish to eat food as the Garlic attracts the fish but it also helps to cure the illness and prevent ICH within the aquarium. It has worked so far with me, cured the ICH straight away and has prevented it ever since. You should give it a go :)

galric guard is just to entice picky eaters...it wont cure ich. the thing that might cure ich in that case is just that the fish continue to eat and their immune system fights it off
