    Hey everyone,
I bought a sump used from someone and the Kent marine float valve for ATO is too low. I'd like to raise it up about 2 inches. Is there anyway that I can close the existing hole shut (~1/2"), so i can re-drill and re-locate the valve?

If not, I suppose I can leave that one there and drill a new hole for another float valve, but that would cost more .

Thanks in advance for the advice!
    Steve

That should be no problem at all. Just go to any store with plumbing stuff and they should have a plug you can put in there. Go to a lowes or home depot and just ask someone in the plumbing department.

...or you could just get a 1/2" nylon bolt, nut and neoprene washers. Put the bolt through the hole, etc...

If none of the above work (which I am 99% certain they will) I would suggest bubble gum and duct tape. It wont work, but it will be fun explaining it to any SO as to why there's gum and tape all over the sump.

Thats the dumbest idea I ever heard. Everyone knows duct tape doesnt stick to acrylic. You gotta use masking tape.

2" square piece of acrylic, glue it on the inside. Don't use silicone to try to glue it in though. It won't adhere to acrylic. People are joking about the duct tape but silicone truly won't adhere properly to acrylic.

If you can't get the scrap acrylic and/or glue (HD/Lowes sell it), you can put a bulkhead in it and cap off the line. You can make a simply DIY bulkhead from electrical PVC fittings. Male and a Female coupling with a piece of rubber/gasket material. The Electrical fittings have square shoulders on them so they will snug down against the acrylic, plumbing PVC couplings don't (look at them sometime).

    Good luck with it.

I called my pharmacist and was told that rubber cement and shoe laces would probably be even better.

Either way it's all bubble gum compatible, just don't use any of those sugar free gums... good ol' fashion pink bubble gum ala Joe Blow works best.

Oh, and make sure you never do any repairs during a lunar eclipse.

    (I can out silly you)
