So, I've got this evil fish. His name is Sin and it's very fitting. I want to take him to the LFS but I have no idea how to catch him. No way I can catch him with a net. He is very skittish and mostly stays in and around the rocks. I don't think a food trap will work either. He is very suspicious of anything. I think I'm going to have to clear out my tank to get him, which I reeeeallllyyy don't want to do.

    Any ideas?!

Hmmm. What species of fish is he to be exact? But your right, the name fits. Haha What does he do to earn that title?

I have a 1/8" dowel that is 3 feet long. On the end of it there is a sharpened point. Works wonders.

He's a tank raised sunrise dottyback. I did a lot of research because I know dottybacks are not nice, but he was supposedly one of the "nice" ones, and since my tank is pretty crazy, I thought he would fit in well.

Now, he isn't evil all the time. He has his moments where I think I could almost like him, well, more like tolerate. But he's grown a lot and only gets meaner - so I think the future isn't bright. He doesn't like any fish to go near his rocks. He chased out my favorite wrasse (even with a lid) :( and I'm pretty sure killed my female scooter. I have no proof, except he randomly goes up to the scooters and bites their heads. That seems like it could be a murderous act to me.

He fights with any fish that goes near his rocks and chases them clear up to the top of the water. In two days I've seen him fight with my flame wrasse, my angel, two anthias, my midas blenny, he then tried to chase my flasher wrasse out of the tank and he constantly bites my scooters on the heads.

That's one of my favorite fish. However, I would consider them to be one of those fish to add last.

I have no 1st hand experience of this

I saw the below idea whilst surfing the net

if you make a deep depression in the sand bed near to where he hangs out
then drain your tank of water - no need take the rocks out

when the water level gets really low, this fish, plus others should be in the deep depression you made in the sand

    remove offending fish

put the water back in the tank
the corals will be OK as they wont be in air long enough to dry out

as stated, I have not tried this
but it does sound like it should work.

This is funny. I had a blue damsel I was trying to get out of my tank. He was really big and was beating up the two skunk clowns that were 5 times bigger than him. We took out about 80% of are rock to catch the sob. Now he is in the fuge and I hope he dies. Oh, and taking the rock out wasn't a bad idea, because we cleaned them all off.
