Agreed. The nutrients are passed down the trophic levels in our tank. If you have problems with nutrients building up at one level then just increase the number of consumers at that level. Eventually when you get down to bacteria the nutrients are so small that they are simple proteins and molecules. They are then removed by skimming.

I feed 4-5 times a day with a mix of very high nutrient foods.

I feed more smaller portions throughout the day than just one big portion. That way IMO everyone eventually gets something to eat. Alot depends on filtration as said before. But also as said before every tank is different.

My skimmer from LG has been working great, actually :) What size clean up crew should I order? I have a 29 gallon. I hear that he usually sends you more than what you pay for. Is that true?

I feed on average once a day - but there are days I skip all together (I travel for work and if I am gone one day, I dont worry too much about it). My fish seem very happy and healthy - my Yellow tang for example is at least 6 years old. I think it is hard to equate captive feeding needs with wild - as the level of activity is less. In the wild a Yellow tang may roam all over a huge reef for example, picking as it goes and filling up to replace spent energy...in my 120 gallon tank - he does not have far to go...in fact food is given to him directly. So It is important to watch what you feed and factor in activity, etc.

Bump. What clean up crew package should I order for a 29 gallon from reefcleaners?
