    Hey BoBo
moved this to the general section for now

not sure on prices, but a quick scan of Craigslist may give you an idea of what these things normally get advertised at
that would at least give you a ball park starting figure or a budget for the tank purchase
should your 1st offer not be considered acceptable

    a few factors to consider.
    1. is the tank driller or not? If yes, does it come with the plumbing?
what condition, any scratches, chips, repairs done to it.

    2. a brand new 75 gallon goes for about 100-120 bucks around me not drilled.
if its used and in good condition with no drilling or anything. id offer 50 bucks.

if its drilled and comes with plumbing, id go as high as 90 bucks. Thats my advice for ya.

everytime you move an aquarium it works the seams and joints so they can become looser. Thats why i feel aquariums drop in value of their price, drastically. we have no way of knowing how strong the seals are in a used tank cuz there is no warranty at all, just someones word for it. I think that plays a small factor in your offer. taking on that kind of chance.

Thanks Steve, I was originally going to put it in the general section but just wasn't 100% sure where to put it

Yeah I was thinking around $50 and depending on the condition I might go a little higher but not much, I def think I should double check the prices on a new 75 if its only $100 for a non drilled that might just be the way to go ;D aight well guys thanks for the great input K++

You know my answer already: $50 for a non-drilled tank in good condition. :) Like nc208082 said, if it is drilled and includes plumbing, offer a bit more.

To drill it yourself, be sure the tank is non-tempered :):))...glass diamond encrusted drill bits (1.75" for 1" plumbing/bulkhead and a 1.5" hole for 3/4" return) will be about $15 each.

check for scratches in the glass too. This was my biggest "mistake" in getting a used tank.

Mine too, and if you can afford the new tank I would say go for it.

Like it was already said you dont know how well the seal is going to hold.

Im actually going be upgrading for this reason on one of the tanks, I would hate to have that kind of water dumped on my floor, and lose contents.

    Im paranoid I know:eek:

Rather than calling ahead...walk into those fish stores and check their store to see what they have on shelves/display. They could upsell you if you don't see the actual item they are pricing...and you could end up buying something you didn't plan to. $200 for a non-drilled tank is a lot of money.

that's what I was thinking.... I don't want to drop that much money on an actual tank until after I move into my house which is at least 6 months out :p I just want a tank that looks good and works for now... Ill prolly just be going with the 75 used :/
