We live in a 2 story condo. The people downstairs from us would not be happy with a 125g falling through their ceiling. Our floors are not concrete so theres no way for us :(

What renters insurance do you use, all that I've checked into do not cover for water damage due to aquarium spills. The water damage they do insure is household appliances, plumbing leaks, etc. They don't categorize fish tank as an appliance.

Let me know who you use and what their policy is I'd be interested to get it.

    Thanks,
    Joe

I took down my 125g fall of last year so I let my renters insurance lapse. I believe it was Progressive Renters Insurance. It was 120 bucks for an entire year. I just paid in full instead of monthly so I'm not 100% that is was progressive because I only had to deal with them that one time but I will get back to you. I specifically explained why I needed it to them and they said:

If the tank crashes through the floor, as long as it was not intentional, that all damage to the building would be covered as well as all of the water damage. If my tank sprung a leak and it flooded my apartment, that would not be covered. But any sudden thing, like it falling through the floor would be covered. I'm pretty sure they were willing to cover the glass and stand (If I had proof of purchase), but my tank was used, so I wasn't worried about that. They did say that the livestock would not be covered.

Got it, thanks for the clarification, I was thinking more along the lines of a tank bursting not falling through the floor. I bet my renters insurance would cover that but no worries of my 55g doing that anytime soon!

    best,
    Joe

That 125G of help is no good if it collapses on your head :p

But on topic, ask the leaser if its ok -- if it is, get it in writing and renters insurances as well and you'll be good. :)
The in writing bit will help an awful lot if something does go wrong.

I have a 92 gallon corner tank on an area that is not strong enough for it. I have an all aggressive fish in it too. I tell the kids not to play near it and its doing well. I can get it rocking if I want to. I thing with your tank you are fine.
