Im not really too new at this but I feel as if I don't have enough sand in my tank. is it really important to have a correct amount of sand. I have a 14 gal bio cube and like maybe 2 in of sand its pretty shallow I think I need more...

You don't need more. It's a PITA to clean when it's too deep. If you don't clean it, you get huge algae outbreaks.

I thought it would look better too, along with it being better for a BS jawfish.

Then, it started to grow algae under the surface, against the glass. It's not so good looking.

I really want a blue spot jaw fish, so pretty... I just don't want to over crowd my tank and they are pretty expensive. does yours decorate around its little hole? haha also another question about sand, for some reason mine has red ish spots.. It looks dirty but I have been sucking stuff out of it about three times a month it used to have red algae on it but I have gotten rid of it, I just wanted to add more sand to make it whiter, any tricks?

Mine jumped out of a 1" round hole while in a covered QT.

It did decorate, though. It also freaked out constantly because the tang I had kept going near his lair.

I dunno about the sand thing. It could be little bits of cyano starting, or something else.

haha thats cool... i dunno about the sand either. I think I'll just add a bit more I don't even know if I have an inch anymore :/ there also these little swirly things growing on my back wall I have seen them in other aquariums I don't know what they are but some of them are in the sand bed too. Im too lazy to pick them out.

Most likely, they are amphipods. I've got tons.

Possibly tiny turbo snails .....round swirled shells .....on the glass here and there but really come out after dark. Great hitchhikers. I have hundreds.
