    y is a refractometer better than a hydrometer? and i wasnt aware there was directions on the bag. i guess i should have looked. im using instant ocean salt and same brand hydrometer

    Red Sea Pro Salt directions will make you feel like a chemist LOL
    Love the salt but the directions stink.....2.5 cups per 5 gals.....1.025 99% of the time

    tiny bubbles can get on the hydrometer and throw it off. It is also harder to read.

    I can test salinty in 20 tanks, before you could get a correct reading on a hydrometer on one. Refractometer as long at they are calibrated, are fast & more accurate than a hydrometer.
