So, as many of you know by now I am in the process of ordering all the stuff for our 240gal tank. The lady doesn't want to fill the tank with rock, but I like the look of lots of rock. The tank is 74in long, 30 in wide and 24in tall. What is your guess on pounds of rock to make a nice happy medium for both of us?

If you don't want alot of rock in the tank I would do a large sump with a Refugium.. I would not skip in this area... As you may know this is what's going to provide your biologocal and will be extreamly important to the health of the tank.. IMO I would do no less then 200lbs I prefer to have 1lb per gallon.

Have you put any thought into making a foam rock wall? Would allow the massive look of lots of rocks, but keep the swimming space.

    Fill the sump.

I like all the little holes for the livestock to hide in. I'm thinking 1lb per gallon?

At least 1 lb per gallon. I like to use 1.5lbs per gallon. For a tank that large with a light to moderate bio load I think 1 lb would work. Especially If you plan on having a large fuge or sump to put more rock and macro algae.

I'd have no less than 300lbs if it were me... I also think in a tank that sized, 300 lbs will disappear and you will both be happy.

I've got 100lbs in my 55gallon and I could easily add another 50 pounds if I rearranged (at which point it would look like a lot of rock, but right now, it doesn't (to me)).

Do you have pics of your setup? Curious of what 100lbs in a 55 looks like for reference.
