New fixture is needed to go T5HO. A 4 bulb unit will take care of you just fine. Good luck and enjoy your happier corals with the new light fixture.

M husband just informed me the tank is 18 inches tall not 24 if that makes a difference: i will still look into the t5 lunar but i was wondering if it would be okay for a month or so i can probably get one now if need be though my pc bulbs are 95w and new (4 of them)

you'll need 4-6 bulb t5 fixture.. or two 175w MH bulbs for sps in that tank.. mount them high for now until you can upgrade lighting. i run 12hr actinics 8 hrs full lights. DIY leds are a option. check my CREE $100 diy thread. you could probly do two 12 leds strips for $200 bucks along with your current Pc fixture. I've found UVL PC bulbs are the best, imho.

i think if your sps are growing and your corals are doing good under those lights you dont need to upgrade. and the fact you are already growing sps coral lets me know the lights is probably enough. and the tank being 6 inches shallower also helps. a 4 bulb compact light over an 18 inch tall tank can probably grow most corals aside from the very light needy sps
